Automatic directories are linked to a folder on the disk, and display its content, according to the specified filters. If directory monitoring is enabled, when a file or folder is added, removed or renamed on the disk, the directory will be refreshed automatically in the Solution Explorer.
Automatic directories are represented with a green icon, and can only contain other automatic directories and automatically added files.
Manual directories are linked to a folder on the disk, but do not display it?s content automatically. The user selects the files/folders (s)he wants to add to the directories, can add shortcuts to files or folders located elsewhere on the disk (a shortcut overlay will be added on the icon of the file/folder).
When creating a new file in a manual directory, the new file will be saved by default in the directory, and creating a new directory will result in the creation of a new directory, child of the manual directory.
Manual directories are represented in yellow, can contain any kind of directories, files, and shortcuts to directories or files.
Virtual directories exist only in the project, and do not represent an existing folder on the disk. Therefore its content must be added manually, and can be of any type.
Virtual directories are represented in orange.
